FAQs, and designing with planters and pots and terrariums
- If you plant to propagate plants in water, keep in mind that you’ll want to add oxygen to the roots by changing the water weekly
- A rooting hormone added to the bud vase solution may speed up the rooting process
- Pothos, monstera, and other tropical plants typically grown as houseplants root readily in water
- Provide indirect sunlight. A light-filled window, but not direct sun is best.
- The tricky part is transitioning them to soil.
- Terrariums are planted without drainage holes. This creates a closed environment. Use a base layer of gravel, add an inch or two of potting soil, and add terrarium plants
- Open your terrarium once a week or so for a few minutes to exchange the air
- With a closed environment and just the right amount of soil moisture, you’ll rarely need to water these plants
