FAQS Vases and Vessels, and DIY Ideas
You can call a container a vase or vessel, like our tall vase for branches, for its appropriately sized neck. Meaning, because of the narrower neck, florals need no further support like floral foam or wire to create a stunning floral centerpiece.
Vases and vessels should be just as pretty with nothing in them. That’s where Floral Home and Holiday comes in. We source containers that can stand alone as décor pieces with trendy finishes and modern lines.
How to create a vase arrangement like a pro:
- Rule of 3 – In general, three stems look better than two, and two stems look better than one. It’s all about balance. However, we’ve seen some pretty stunning florals with a spectacular single stem in a tall decorative vase. If you’re going for one stem in one vase, make sure they are both premium pieces
- 5 to 1 Ratio – In general (I know), you’ll want your florals or greenery to stand 1 ½ times taller than the height of the vase. Cut from the bottom up to achieve this proportion
- Think about where your florals will be used. Tall arrangements can fill vacant corners and tabletops parked against walls. On the other hand, centerpieces should be low enough to see over the top
- Filling a vase can be as easy as walking outside with your clippers. Almost any shrub, tree, seasonal branch, seed pod, fruit stem, and yes, flowers can be clipped and brought inside
